AINA TEMITOPE EMMANUEL
Writer • Editor • Teacher • Content Creator.
Hi. My name is Aina Temitope Emmanuel, a wordsmith. I am a creative writer, storyteller, teacher, editor, and content creator. My pseudonym is E.T.H…AINA. I studied English at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, South West, Nigeria.
Writing gives me the freedom to create a world where I set the rules, where the characters act the way I want them to, a world where everything is exactly how I want it to be and I know that I am the one who controls everything.
I began writing at only a few years of age. I have published two books (Obinze the Fearless Boy and Heart to Heart), and some of my writings have appeared in online (Poetry Portion, Visual Verse, and others) and offline publications.
I live in Lagos, South West, Nigeria but grew up in Ikole Ekiti, Ekiti State, South West, Nigeria and its influence is clearly noticeable in my poems. I enjoy writing about on the clichéd themes of typical “Nigerian poetry” — corruption, injustice, immorality, poverty, bigotry, terrorism, Western exploitation, gender inequality, and others.
As a {contract} creative writer at Emirates Publishers, Somolu, Lagos, Nigeria, from January 2018 to July 2019, I wrote short stories and narrative non-fiction. Also, as a freelance writer, I’ve had some ghostwriting clients. All of them are influencers in their industry or areas of specialization wanting to write memoirs, business proposals, professional CVs, and letters of introduction.
I also edit. I am an editor. As an editor, I love to do the following:
•Research content and grammatical issues to check the accuracy of information.
•Check and correct grammatical and spelling errors in diverse documents.
•Proofread, edit, and evaluate the final copy to verify content aligned with established guidelines.
In addition, I am a seasoned teacher. I have been teaching English and Literature-in-English since September 2007. As a teacher, I improve students’ English grammar and vocabulary levels through written and interactive activities. I was the Principal of Calvary Comprehensive College, Obawole, Iju, Lagos from 2011-2013. I have won many prizes especially at Bizben College, Obawole, Iju, Lagos, where I taught English and Literature-in-English and also double as the Head of Department of Arts.
Finally, Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and the award-winning investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo are my mentors.
Nice meeting you.
